Costa del Sol Highlights

Costa del Sol never fails to impress first-time visitors, which is why so many go back year after year. Let's look at what makes Costa del Sol such an excellent tourist spot!

  • Costa del Sol has a perfect mix of beautiful beaches, cultural attractions and mouth-watering cuisine.
  • Popular sandy spots such as Marbella, Torremolinos and Fuengirola are great resorts that have everything you could need for a Spain holiday. Soak up the sun and take part in beach activities, or watch the world go by down by the harbours.
  • Are you an adventure junkie? Try water sports such as jet skiing, paddleboarding, diving and yachting. Go on a boat trip and spot dolphins and whales.
  • Costa del Sol is heaven for foodies. Taste the traditional Spanish cuisine, such as paella, fresh seafood and tapas. Fashionistas will have a great time shopping throughout the region too.

When to go to Costa del Sol

The climate of Costa Del Sol is tropical, which is typical of the Mediterranean region. This means the days are long and hot and winters are mild. Visitors look forward to enjoying the sunshine and minimal rainfall, so planning holidays in Costa del Sol in May and September is ideal. You will witness clear blue skies, plenty of sunshine and minimal rain; making it the perfect time for outdoor activities.

On the other hand, the best time to enjoy the sun, sea and sand is between June and August. The temperature reaches its peak, ranging around 30°C. This makes the warm, crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean perfect for water sports like swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving.

Getting Around

Most flights to the Costa del Sol touch down in Malaga airport which has good public transport links to the main resorts. You can also get a taxi or hire a car here. In the resorts, most hotels are within walking distance of beaches, bars and restaurants but if you want to go further afield, taxis are in plentiful supply too.

All the main resorts are connected to each other and Malaga by a clean, reliable bus service, which makes bus travel an affordable and easy option for getting around the Costa del Sol.

Local drivers on the Costa del Sol are used to hordes of tourists joining them on their roads in the summer. As a result, if you stick to the right, you should find driving here fairly easy.
